Evelyn Glennie es conocida por ser la primera persona que consiguió crear y mantener una carrera a tiempo completo como percusionista solista. A los 12 años Dame Evelyn Glennie fue diagnosticada con sordera profunda, lo que no le ha impedido desarrollar su carrera musical como percusionista. Glennie sostiene que la sordera es en gran medida mal entendida por el público, afirmando que ha aprendido a escuchar con partes del cuerpo que no son sus oídos.

Evelyn abrió el camino para que las orquestas de todo el mundo presentaran conciertos de percusión cuando tocó el primer concierto de percusión en la historia de los Promsen el Royal Albert Hall en 1992.

La película “Touchthesound” o su libro “Listen theWorld!” Son testimonios clave de su enfoque único e innovador de la creación de sonido. Al frente de 1.000 baterías, Evelyn tuvo un papel destacado en la ceremonia de apertura de los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres 2021, en la que presentó además un nuevo instrumento, el Glennie ConcertAluphone.

A través de su misión “Teachtheworldto listen” (Enseñar al mundo a escuchar), pretende mejorar la comunicación y la cohesión social animando a todo el mundo a descubrir nuevas formas de escuchar para inspirar, crear, comprometerse y empoderar.
